Winn Dixie Jacksonville Open

It’s not everyday you get a chance to check out what goes on behind the scenes during the a golf tournament (Winn Dixie Jacksonville Open). So when I had an opportunity to visit the ShotLink trucks I was excited — and I brought along the widest lens I had just so I could capture as much of it as I can.

To the left is the data center which are racks of servers, cables, and lots of pretty blinking lights. To the right is where all the magic happens.

Here I am sitting at the console.

A view of the outside. Data is collected from all corners of the golf course and wirelessly transmitted to this truck where it’s processed and distributed out to various medias such as television, internet, and mobile — all in real time. In fact, you would know where a ball landed before the player does. Real-time at its finest.
