Cinco de Mayo celebrates the country’s freedom from France (and not to be confused with Mexico’s Independence Day held in mid-September). The St. Johns Town Center celebrated Cinco de Mayo with live music, delicious Mexican food, festive drinks, and salsa dancing. Fred Astaire invited patrons of all ages to free salsa lessons and a chance to win up to $500 in prizes.

This sweet and fun couple celebrated their engagement party in a private room at Bistro AIX right in the heart of San Marco. Friends and family alike gave heartfelt blessings as they raised their glasses to wish the couple happiness, prosperity and a continued growth in the Christian Faith.

Everyone enjoyed an evening of fine dining as guest choose from any of the delicious entries such as Ashley Farms Roasted Chicken, Steak Frites, and House-made Shrimp Tagliatelle. Dinner was complimented with a trio of cakes including carrot, strawberry, and my personal favorite, red velvet.

The annual Big Brothers Big Sisters BFKS event was held at Latitude 30. Bigs, Littles, Friends, Family, and Coworkers enjoyed bowling, food, drinks, and a visit by Southpaw, the Jacksonville Jaguar cheerleaders, and the big cat himself — Jackson de Ville.

Bowl for Kids’ Sake is Big Brothers Big Sisters largest national fundraiser, raising over $20 million annually for children in need across the country. Because of Bowl for Kids’ Sake, more Bigs and Littles can be paired up, more friendships can be created and improved outlooks on life can be started.
